Final Exams & Change of Designation of Class
Although the program at Atlantic Cape follows the Rutgers University Academic calendar in most respects, there are two instances where we do not follow the standard university calendar, final exams and change of designation in class days.
Final Exams: We do not exactly follow the university’s final exam schedule, which provides for the final exams of courses to be given on days/times other than the day/time of a course’s actual lecture. The majority of students at Atlantic Cape attend school part-time and schedule their classes around full-time work, so it would not be fair to those students, who have arranged to come to class at specific times, to alter their schedule for the final exam. It has been our policy therefore, to hold final exams at the regular class day/time during the exam period. Please Note: Final Exams should not be offered during regularly scheduled class times. If this policy causes a scheduling conflict for you, or if wish to make special arrangements for your exams, please contact the Manager of Academic Programs to work out an alternative exam schedule.
Change in Designation of Class: Because we are located on Atlantic Cape's campus, which operates on a different academic calendar than Rutgers, we do not engage in the end-of-semester “change of days” that is built into the standard Rutgers calendar. However, if you think that the current schedule cuts your class short and feel that you require an extra class meeting during the semester, please discuss your concerns with the Manager of Academic Programs and perhaps an alteration in the schedule can be arranged.
